Commentary

A good yarding with plenty of quality cattle at this fortnights Murgon combined agents sale. Prices have softened due to shorter processing weeks with the upcoming public holidays as well as the current uncertainty the world is currently experiencing around fuel. Better quality store types still sold to firm values.

Bulls topped at $3.50/kg averaging $3.20/kg for $2,000/hd. Good bullocks topped at $4.24/kg averaging $3.70/kg for $2,400/hd. Store cows made $3.50/kg averaging $3.00/kg for $1,500/hd. Export heifers topped at $3.90/kg for $2,000/hd and averaged between $3.50-$3.80/kg.

Good quality Charbray steers from Ballogie topped the weaner steers for $5.44/kg. A great pen of red steers made $5.20/kg. Other weaners averaged $4.26/kg for $1,000/hd. Light feeders topped at $5.50/kg and heavy feeders made $4.66/kg. All other feeders averaged between $4.00-$4.20/kg for around $1,5000/hd. Light mickey bulls topped at $3.98/kg and averaged $3.30/kg for $800/hd.

Weaner heifers topped at $3.64/kg and averaged between $3.00-$3.20/kg. Light feeders topped at $3.78/kg for $1,200/hd and heavier types made up to $3.76/kg for $1,500/hd. All other feeder types averaged around the $3.30/kg mark.

Cows & calves averaged $1,100/unit.
