Commentary
2583 cattle were scanned for the fortnightly store sale in Tamworth. It was a better quality yarding of predominately weaner cattle. There were limited numbers of PTIC cows as well as cows and calves. A strong field of buyers attended for an overall stronger market.
Angus weaner steers up to 200kg made to $1050/head. Crossbred steers made to $1080/head. Angus weaner steers 200kg to 280kg made up the majority of the steers they made from $1200 to $1840/head to average 651c/kg. Crossbred steers made from $930 to $1695/head to average 595c/kg. 280kg to 330kg Angus weaner steers topped at $1880/head and the crossbred steers made to $1710/head.
Angus yearling steers up to 330kg made from $1170 to $1800/head to average 598c/kg. Crossbred yearling steers made from $1680 to $1830/head. An older line of Angus feeder steers topped at $2290/head.
Angus weaner heifers up to to 200kg made to $1090/head and the crossbred heifers made to $910. Angus heifers 200kg to 280kg made from $1100 to $1590/head to average 541c/kg. The crossbred heifers made between $1070 and $1300/head. Angus yearling heifers up to 330kg made to $1760/head while the crossbred heifers made to $1320/head.
PTIC heifers made it to $2060/head. The PTIC cows topped at $2640/head. The cows and calves lacked quality and made too $2600/head.
