Commentary
Recent general rain put a hold on numbers to scan just 1475 cattle at the fortnightly store sale in Tamworth. It was a mixed quality yarding of predominately weaner and yearling cattle with limited numbers of cows and calves as well as PTIC cows on offer. A large roll up of buyers of with renewed enthusiasm made for an overall much dearer market.
Weaner steers up to 200kg made from $930 to $1270/head. Angus steers 200kg to 280kg made from $1150 to $1560/head to average 591c/kg. Cross bred steers the same weight made from $1150 to $1770/head to average 587c/kg. The best pen of weaner steers made to $1670/head. Angus yearling steers up to 330kg made to $1780/head.
Weaner heifers up to 200kg made from $880 to $1290/head. Angus heifers 200 to 280kg made from $1290 to $1560/head while their crossbred counterparts the same weight made from $1170 to $1300/head and averaged 529c/kg. The best pen of weaner heifers made to $1560/head and the best pen of yearling heifers up to 330kg made to $1700/head.
Young cows and calves PTIC back in calf again topped at $3610 and PTIC heifers made from $1975 to $2220/head.
