CVLX Ballarat Cattle Report

Total Yarding: 518 (+221)

Numbers jumped to 518 head an excellent yarding of heavy cows were penned along with a limited offering of young cattle and they were mostly plainer types. All the regular buyers were on the rail along with a large gallery of onlookers. The market opened softer over the heavy bull and gained momentum across the cows and the better quality young cattle with the plainer lots selling cheaper. Cows sold to 8c stronger with isolated sales to 25c/kg dearer for the neat clean heifer types. Young steers and heifers sold to 20c dearer for the few better quality pen lots. Heavy bull were to 8c/kg softer.

Young cattle sold to the trade from 440c to 489c, the limited offering of better quality feeders and restockers made from 480c to 560c while the plainer lots sold from 380c to 430c/kg. Grown Steers sold to 436c to 480c, grown heifers made 400c to 452c for the better quality while the plainer lots made from 308c to 428c/kg. Manufacturing crossbred steers sold from 354c to 460c and feeders made to 480c/kg.

Heavy cows sold to the trade from 360c to 418c, medium and lighter weight cows made 290c to 354c while feeder and restocker types sold from 380c to 432c/kg. Heavy bulls sold from 340c to 436c and the younger and lighter bulls made from 368c to 442c/kg.
