Numbers lifted significantly. Quality was fair very good with a lot of cattle across all classes carrying plenty of weight. There was a reduced number of vealers this sale with only a couple of pens in the mix. The usual export buying group made it to the sale, while not all domestic buyers were at the market. Heavy cattle were in reasonable numbers. Domestic buyers continue to be very selective. This weaker approach resulted in prices softening Feedlots dominated the sale buying most of the stock despite most presenting well finished

It was an excellent but limited offering of veal. Vealers to suit processors sold 6-20c cheaper with the heifer portion bearing the brunt of the cheaper trend. The bulk making from 460-549c/kg. Trade steers and heifers were grass finished and grain assisted making between 400-496c/kg. Meanwhile, competition and price for feeder types was notably solid and buyers competed across all well finished drafts. Feeder heifers medium weight 400-500kg were unchanged making from 350-492c/kg. Feeder steers in the medium weight category slipped 17c quality related, making from 470-514c/kg.

On the export side heavy steers and bullocks suitable for processors sold to fluctuating demand but at lower price levels. Heavy steers and Bullocks made from 390-500c/kg. In the cow sale, heavy cows made up a large portion of the offering and bidding was weaker. The bulk of the better heavy cows eased 9c making from 385c to 418c/kg. Leaner cows D3 types under 520kg were limited selling from 366-395c/kg for the better covered types. Heavy bulls sold from 405-444c/kg.
