Nutrien Standalone Special Steer and Heifer sale

4641 steers and heifers were penned, exceptional lines of Angus cattle dominated the yarding presented in excellent condition in all weights and grades, with a very small offering of coloured breds and only a handful of plainer lots. A large field of buyers were active with a strong presence from specialty feeders from Gippsland, Northern Victoria, South Australia alongside restockers from throughout Victoria and locally, with a few processors in the mix. A large gallery of lookers filled the alleyways. Bidding intensity was strong from the start with extra heavy grown steers selling frim to reach $3,150/head.
Grown and yearling steers sold to $2,500 to be 15c to 25c dearer while the weaner steers made to $2,350/head, to be in places 30c to 50c/kg dearer to a week ago. The heifer run didn’t disappoint with grown heifers selling $2,300, reaching 539c, the weaner portion made to $2,070/head and sold to 519c/kg.

Extra heavy grown steers made from $2,300 to $3,150 to average 500c/kg, grown and yearling steers made from $1,440 to $2,700/head with a wide range of 459c to 530c to average 501c/kg. Weaner steers made from $1,080 to $2,350/head to range from 449c to 636c to average 580c/kg. The very limited offering of coloured breeds made from $1,400 to $2,090/head.

Grown and yearling heifers sold from $1,250 to $2,300 to average 472c/kg and the weaners heifers made from $870 to $2,070/head to average 470c/kg. The small offering of coloured hrifers made from $1,290 to $1,600/head.
