Commentary
Numbers were back by 792 for a yarding of 6210 lambs. Quality was mixed with mostly trade weights penned along with lighter store types. Most of the regular buyers were operating in a dearer market.
Lightweight processing lambs to 18k were firm, selling from $110 to $145/head. Trade weights 20kg to 24kg were $9 dearer selling from $162 to $218/head, to average between 790c and 830c/kg cwt. Heavy weights over 24kg gained $10, $213 to $263/head, averaging 850c to 880c/kg cwt. Heavy hoggets reached $188 and lightweight lambs to restockers sold from $77 to $162/head.
There was 4338 mixed quality mutton yarded and prices were $20 to $25 stronger. Merino ewes sold from $60 to $139, and crossbred ewes, $51 to $214/head. Merino wethers sold from $104 to $198, and crossbred rams reached $60/head. Most mutton selling in the range of 480c to 560c/kg cwt.
