Commentary

Tamworth agents penned 2,500 lambs and 1,108 mutton down by 4,894 head on last week. All the regular buyers attended and operated on a market close to last week with quality, weight and finish the main reason for any price variations. Young lambs to restockers sold to dearer trends.

Young lambs in the 16-20kg range to restockers sold from $102 to $150/head. Older lambs in the 18-20kg range to restockers sold from $116 to $129/head. Lambs to suit the butcher trade sold from $130 to $212/head. Lambs to the wholesale meat trade sold from $200 to $214/head. Lambs to processors sold from $180 to $297 with the best heavy lambs topping at $365/head.

Hoggets to processors sold from $200 to $220/head. Light weight merino ewes to restockers sold to $90 with those to processors at $90 to $112/head. Heavy dorper and crossbred ewes to processors sold from $160 to $290/head. Wethers to processors sold from $155 to $295/head. Rams to processors sold from $158 to $200/head.
