Commentary

There was only a slight reduction in numbers and the quality showed an improvement. There were reasonable numbers of fresh weaners and a good supply of medium and heavy feeders. Grown steers and bullocks were limited and there was strong competition from restockers for the plainer grown heifers and cows. Prime heavy cows were better supplied. Cow numbers reached 152 head. The whole market sold to stronger trends.

Weaner steers reached 550c and heifers 462c/kg, a lift of 30c/kg. Medium and heavy feeder steers were 15c to 20c stronger selling from 440c to 514c/kg. Feeder heifers were 5c to 10c stronger on the better end but the secondary heifers were 30c to 40c stronger and sold from 430c to 461c/kg.

Prime grown steers and bullocks were 25c dearer selling from 433c to 455c and heavy feeders reached 485c for 2 tooths. The best of the prime heavy heifers reached 455c/kg. Cows were 15c to 20c stronger on the heavy weights with most 370c to 417c and the leaner and lighter 2 score cows which restockers and processors were after were up to 50c stronger in places and ranged from 337c to 374c/kg.
