Commentary

In what was possibly the last sale for the year the lamb numbers increased to 2800 head with the sheep numbers lifting to 1600 head. The quality of the lamb offering was very mixed. There were around 200 new season lambs along with some very good heavy weight old lambs and plenty of plainer condition Merino lambs. The usual processors were in attendance. There was limited restocker activity on the plainer crossbred lambs with a little more on the Merino’s.

The plainer condition and light weight merino lambs sold to cheaper trends to both processors and restockers. A few pens of well finished Merino’s to processors were a little dearer. The well finished new season lambs were keenly sought by processors to also sell to a dearer trend. The well finished old lambs also sold to dearer trends with strong gains through most classes.

It was a very mixed quality and conditioned penning of sheep featuring some very well finished heavy weights. The well finished lines and those Merino’s carrying a decent skin value were keenly sought by processor and sold to dearer trends. The plainer condition sheep and those with a minimal skin value attracted little competition.
