GVLX Shepparton Cattle Sale Report
Report Date: 3rd March 2026
Total Yarding: 1,400
Commentary
There were 900 exports and 440 trade cattle offered. Just add water they say! Prices lifted across most grades of stock. Mixed rainfall reports from 20mm to over 100mm throughout the greater region. Not all exporters were present, however a few more trade buyers were present and bidding with more vigour this week. Quality was fair to good across the heavy cattle, although cows dominated, particularly Friesian Cows, while grown steers were in short supply.
The best of the vealers made to 515c/kg. There were a few pens of supplementary fed yearlings and prices ranged from 460c to 500c/kg for the yearling B & C muscled steers. The yearling heifer portion made from 410c to 500c/kg. Not as many store conditioned animals about this store.
The 400 to 500kg steers made to 492c/kg. The 600kg plus steers ranged from 440c to 470c/kg. Heavy beef cows lifted in price and made from 385c to 415c/kg, while the lines of heavy Friesian cows didn’t meet the same level of market interest making from 345c to 376c/kg which was firm to a shade easier.
