Commentary

The Wodonga market showed mixed trends at times with numbers lifted in a very mixed yarding. There was strong demand for heavy export types, leading to increased competition across all export categories and significant price hikes. Secondary cattle slipped in value if in plainer conditions causing price variations

Heavy steers and bullocks saw gains of 20c to 40c, selling from 270-328c/kg. Heavy heifers were in high demand, fetching prices between 274c to 312c/kg.
The cow market also observed a notable increase in prices, with buyers wanting heavy cows in prime condition . The bulk selling at 244c to 265c/kg and leaner types ranging from 140c to 228c/kg. The better covered bulls sold from 205c to 228c/kg.

In the trade market, prices varied based around quality, with the better quality vealers fetching between 320c to 402c/kg. Trade steers slightly softened, selling from 300c to 350c/kg, while heifers saw a 26c increase and sold from 285c to 310c/kg. Feed heifers also experienced a 10c lift, with prices ranging from 230c to 310c/kg. Feed steers were very mixed in quality with some quite plain in condition. Pices came back 19c for medium weight steers 400kg to 480kg, making from 280c to 310c/kg.
