Commentary

Inverell penned 4653 mixed cattle an increase of 1003 head and another record for Inverell sale yards. Cows again dominated the market and trends were not far back on last week’s results. Yearling cattle were cheaper but the general market still solid particularly on light cows back to the paddock. The regular buyers were present and operating with a new store buyer who bought lighter cows and another operator who purchased PTIC cows to 369c/kg.

Light steers to 200kgs to background sold to 445c/kg. Steers up to 280kgs sold to 380c/kg medium steers made to 426c/kg. Feeder steers 400kgs to 480kgs 434c to 506c/kg.

Light heifers to 200kgs sold to 380c/kg and over 280kgs made 298c/kg. Heavy heifers to process 390c to 416c/kg.

Prime heavy cows 381c to 398c/kg to average 376c/kg. Medium cows to process 358c to 365c/kg. PTIC cows to a restocker 357c to 369c/kg. Light cows to the paddock 294c to 380c/kg. Heavy bulls 398c to 410c/kg.
