Report Date: 3rd March 2026
Total Yarding: 791
Commentary
There were approximately 790 head penned for the Hinnomunjie leg, day 2 of the mountain calf sales representing a decrease of 220 head year-on-year. Quality was very good although, overall, the yarding was a little lighter in weight with some calves having been sold early due to seasonal conditions. The crowd was enormous with agents and graziers coming from far and wide to participate. Prices were between 100c and 150c/kg dearer year-on-year and averages similar to recent results locally.
The top of the weaner steers made $1,930/head for 22 Herefords estimated to weigh 340kg or 568c/kg. Hereford steers averaging 257kg made $1,426/head or 555c/kg. The top of the yearling steers made $2,700/head for 10 Hereford Shorthorn crosses estimated to weigh 565kg or 478c/kg.
The top of the weaner heifers made $1,370/head for 32 Herefords estimated to weigh 280kg or 489c/kg. The top of the yearling heifers made $2,350/head for 19 Hereford Shorthorn crosses estimated to weigh 465kg or 505c/kg.
