Commentary
Heavy rain across the local area caused the supply of stock at Warwick to reduce to 721 lambs and 232 grown sheep. The regular buyers attended and competed strongly on the trade lambs lifting prices from $8 to $28/head with store lambs firm and the mutton lines selling to prices similar to last week.
Young lambs to restockers sold from $41 to $80/head. Young lambs in the 16-18kg range to butchers sold from $74 to $114 with those over 18kg at $110 to $142/head. Older lambs to feed sold from $101 to $126/head. Lambs suited to the butcher trade sold from $140 to $192/head. Lambs in the 22-26kg range to the wholesale meat trade sold from $158 to $209 with the best heavy lambs topping at $215/head.
Hoggets to processors sold from $80 to $169/head. Ewes to processors sold from $65 to $120/head. Wethers to processors sold from $105 to $127/head. Ram lambs to the butcher trade sold to $117 with older rams to processors at $40 to $60/head.
