Aussie Land & Livestock: 663hd

A large increase in numbers was seen this fortnight at Murgon, with agents yarding 1400hd. Cattle were sourced from as far as Biloela and Mt Perry in the North Burnett areas as well as in the South Burnett Region of Kingaroy, Durong, Kilkivan and Murgon. Seasonal conditions have begun to take its toll on the condition of the cattle with prices softening in some descriptions. All processor buyers were present and active, with export cattle still selling to strong competition.   

Plenty of good heavy bulls were present, making up to $4.18/kg for $3,470/hd and averaging $3.56/kg for $2,250/hd. Bullocks averaged $4.59/kg for $3,200/hd. The cow market is still proving to be strong topping at $4.00/kg for $2,800/hd and averaging $3.00/kg. Heavy export heifer prices improved significantly, topping at $4.38/kg for $2,340/hd.

Weaner steers averaged $4.17/kg for $1,000/hd and topped at $5.30/kg. Heavier weaner types made $4.96/kg for $1,500/hd and averaged $4.10/kg. Light feeders topped at $5.00/kg and averaged $4.45/kg for $1,600/hd. Heavy feeders averaged $4.35/kg for $1,900/hd and topped at $5.06/kg. Mickey bulls ranged from 200-400kg and topped at $4.20/kg, averaging $3.73/kg for $980/hd.

Weaner heifers topped at $4.40/kg and averaged $3.07/kg. Heavier weaner types made out to $4.45/kg for $1,300/hd and averaged $3.58/kg. Light feeders topped at $4.60/kg for $1,800/hd and heavier types made up to $4.78/kg for $2,000/hd, averaging $4.26/kg for $1,860/hd.

Cow & calf units averaged $1,200/unit and topped at $1,775/unit.
