Blackall saleyard example

Blackall combined agents yarded 3,200 head of cattle this week that included 900 bullocks, 950 cows and 150 bulls. Despite the increased yardings across the state, a large panel of export buyers were present and competing on some very good quality runs of bullocks and cows, with averages for prime cattle remaining firm on previous weeks. It was a very mixed quality yarding of yearling steers and heifers with a lot of high content cattle on offer and buyers adjusted their rates accordingly.

A limited number of good quality steers 280 to 330kg sold to 496.2c to average 481c and feeder steers over 400kg sold to 486.2c to average 467c/kg.

Light weight heifers saw a reduction in quality and heifers 280 to 330kg sold to 362.2c to average 331c and heifers 330 to 400kg to the restocker sold to 420.2c to average 398c/kg.

Prime grown steers 500 to 600kg were firm, selling to 420.2 to average 396c and those to feed made to 422.2c/kg. Steers over 600kg saw a quality related lift of 10c/kg to 414.2c to average 409c and grown prime heifers over 540kg sold to 400.2c to average 383c/kg. Heavy weight store cows sold to 340.2c to average 329c while prime medium weight cows 400 to 520kg sold to 356.2c to average 332c/kg. Extra processor orders saw heavy weight 3 score cows selling to 365.2c to average 353c and heavy 4 score cows over 520kg topped at 385.2c to average 374c/kg. Heavy bulls sold to 440.2c.
