The Clermont Prime & Store Sale recorded a yarding of 778 head today, with cattle drawn from Clermont and surrounding districts. Despite the absence of two regular meatworks, competition remained firm throughout the prime yarding, with the majority of prime categories recording a dearer trend. Heavy bullocks were well represented, with cattle over 500kg topping at 422.2c/kg and averaging 411c/kg. The cow yarding was well presented, with a good-quality selection of heavy cows on offer. Heavy cows over 520kg topped at 343.2c/kg and averaged 335.94c/kg. Cows in the 400-520kg weight range sold to a top of
338c/kg and averaged 313.3c/kg. While heavy heifers to process in excess of 400kg sold to a top of 390.2c/kg. The store section was again mixed in type and quality however, better-quality weaners and feeders attracted healthy competition. Feeder steers 400-500kg limited in numbers topped at 416.2c/kg, while steers 300-400kg topped at 382.2c/kg. Steers sub 300 kg told to a top of 416.2c/kg to average 401.3c/kg. Trade-weight heifers in the 300-400kg range topped at 300c/kg and averaged 272.2c/kg. Weaner heifers under 300kg
topped at 266.2c/kg, with the average settling in the mid-200c/kg range.
