Commentary
With graziers in the district hoping for rain in the coming days, Dubbo agents penned a small yarding of 213 cattle, mainly steer and heifer weaners were offered, 16 cows with calves and 13 cows.
Mainly local district buyers attended along with a buyer from Coonamble and Bordertown in South Australia.
The bulk of the weaner steers were of the Angus breed and sold in a range of $620 to $1340 or 480c to 730c/kg live weight. The balance comprising mainly of Herefords and Santa Gertrudis cross traded from $490 to $1170 or 410c to 615c/kg live weight.
Cows and calves made from $1700 to $2450 per unit whilst the dry Cows sold from $1240 to $1700 in comparative live weight terms 280c to 369c/kg.
The bulk of the weaner heifers were either Angus or Black baldies and sold to solid competition making between $635 and $1130 or 435c to 514c/kg live weight. The balance of the heifer weaners traded between $310 and $1000, the latter for some smart Limousin cross calves.
