Commentary
A slightly larger yarding for the monthly store, quality was plain with a lot of light weaners and some very plain yearlings. There were 31 cow/calf units and a small run of store cows that had been continuously running with a bull. There was a small group of buyers that were keen to purchase and the market sold to strong trends.
Straight Angus steers under 200kg sold to $1020/head and averaged 735c/kg and a pen of Black Baldys reached $1210/head or 650c/kg. Medium weights sold to $1530/head and averaged 603c/kg after reaching 645c/kg for a pen of fresh Angus steers.
Light heifers reached at top of $810/head averaging 560c and the best of the medium weights reached $1270/head. The Angus and Angus cross heifers in fresher condition averaged between 480c and 500c with the drier and lighter heifers 410c to 460c/kg.
Heavier weights steers reached $1780 and the heifers $1200/Head for a pen of Hereford heifers. Most of the cow and calf units ranged from $2250 to $2650 and the cows to restock ranged from $1840 to $1870/head.
