Mareeba Cattle Reports
Tuesday 18th Aug 2026
Total Yarding: 672
Mareeba Combined Agents yarded a total of 672 head for this week’s sale, comprising a combination of quality local cattle and northern types. The yarding was reasonably consistent across the various classes, with a good representation of cattle throughout.
The overall cattle market experienced a slight easing across most sections compared with recent weeks. Despite the softer result, prices remain relatively strong as we move into the second half of the year, with solid demand continuing for well-presented lines.
Today’s sale attracted a strong buying gallery of local buyers and southern processors, contributing to competitive bidding and supporting firm market rates across the yarding.
Prime Cattle: The prime section consisted of a good selection of cattle, with heavy cows topping at $2.98/kg. Butcher heifers reached $3.46/kg, while steers made a top of $3.94/kg. Heavy bulls also remained competitive, reaching $3.44/kg.
