Commentary
A smaller yarding this fortnight at Murgon due to the extreme rainfall the region received the week before. Aussie Land & Livestock yarded 140 of the 625hd that were on offer. Prices held mostly firm in all descriptions for quality cattle with a good buyer turnout considering the current fuel crisis.
Bulls topped at $3.80/kg for $3,200/hd for an average of $3.50/kg. Bullocks topped at $4.55/kg for $2,500/hd averaging $4.39/kg for $2,200/hd. Store cows up to 400kg topped at $3.50/kg for $1,200/hd. 400-500kg cows topped at $3.90/kg for $1,900/hd and averaged $3.65/kg. 500-600kg cows topped at $4.26/kg for an average of $3.85/kg. Heavy cows topped at $3.96/kg for $2,700/hd and averaged $3.90/kg. Export heifers topped at $4.46/kg for $2,800/hd and averaged $4.35/kg.
Light weaner steers made $5.52/kg for $1,500/hd and averaged $4.45/kg. In the 280-330kg weight range, top money was $5.00/kg for $1,600/hd averaging $4.60/kg. Feeder steers topped at $5.00/kg for an average of $4.30/kg. Heavy steers averaged $4.60/kg for $2,200/hd. Mickey bulls averaged $3.60/kg for $1,000/hd.
Light weaner heifers topped at $3.86kg for $1,000/hd. 280-300kg heifers topped at $4.00/kg and averaged $3.80/kg for $1,200/hd. Feeder heifers topped at $4.08/kg for $1,500/hd and averaged $3.85/kg. Heavy heifers made $4.42/kg for $2,100/hd.
Cows & calves averaged $1,900/unit and topped at $2,200/unit.
