Commentary

The monthly store/weaner sale was smaller than previous sale with decent rain falls in the supply area. The quality was good with the bulk of the yarding weaners with just a few yearlings and a very small run of cow and calf units. There was a large gallery of buyers and the market was stronger.

Light weaner steers were limited and sold from $900 to $1210/head, Charolais steers reached $1200 at 188kg and returned at 638c/kg. Medium weight steers lifted an average of $160/head and Angus steers reached $1715/head and averaged 615c/kg. Heavy weaner steers ranged from $1530 to $1970/head averaging 588c up 40c/kg. Angus weaner heifers were up $50 to $60/head and coloured cattle more, light weights reached $960 and medium weights ranged from $850 to $1385/head averaging around 500c/kg. Heavy Angus weaner heifers reached $1850/head or 480c/kg.

Heavy yearling steers reached $2100/head or 532c/kg and heifers reached $1840/head. The few cow/calf units sold from $1800 to $2200/head. PTIC heifers reached $1900/head.
