Commentary

The supply of stock at Warwick reduced by 275 head to 2,268 lambs and grown sheep. The yarding was dominated by light weight store and feeder type lambs with only a small part of the lamb yarding suited to the wholesale and processor market which resulted in dearer trends. The extra numbers of hoggets and mutton offered improved in finish and weight which resulted in most selling to dearer trends. All the usual buyers attended and operated.

Light weight young lambs to restockers improved in price and sold from$57 to $128/head. Young lambs over 18kg to feed sold from $122 to $131/head. Trade weight new season lambs to the wholesale meat trade sold from $135 to $208/head. Older lambs in the 16-18kg range processors sold from $90 to $129/head. Lambs in the 18-22kg range to feeder buyers sold from $115 to $150 with those to the wholesale meat trade at $163 to$184/head. Ideal trade weight lambs sold from $141 to $207/head. Heavy trade lambs sold from $180 to $229 with the very heavy lambs at $240 to $266/head.

Light weight hoggets to processors sold from $70 to $90 with the heavy lines at $135 to $168/head. Light weight ewes to processors sold from $10 to $60/head. Merino ewes sold from $68 to $84 with the heavy ewes at $65 to $100/head. Wethers to processors sold from $70 to $101/head. Ram lambs to the butcher trade sold from $120 to $152 with one pen to restockers at $200/head. Rams to processors sold from $65 to $85/head.
