Commentary

With some useful falls of rain over the past few days numbers were back considerably for a yarding of 9570 lambs. It was only a fair quality yarding with a large numbers of secondary and plainer types throughout. There were only odd pens of neat trade lambs penned along with a few pens of heavy weights.

Lightweight lambs to the processors were $6 dearer with the 12kg to 18kg Merino lambs selling from $151 to $236/head. Trade lambs and heavy lambs up to 28 kgs were $8 to $10 dearer while the extra heavy weights were firm. 20kg to 24kg trade lambs sold from $250 to $316 to average 1250c/kg cwt. 24kg to 30kg lambs sold from $286 to $368 while lambs over 30kg sold from $361 to $388 to average 1145c/kg cwt. Merino lambs were firm to $5 dearer with trade weights selling from $227 to $277 while the heavy weight Merinos sold to $319/head. Lambs to the restockers were also dearer with crossbreds going back to the paddock selling from $140 to $271 while the feeders paid to $265/head. Hoggets sold to $299/head.

Most grades were represented in a yarding of 4590 mutton where most grades were $10/head dearer. Merino ewes sold from $132 to $370 while crossbred ewes sold from $173 to $390/head. Merino wethers sold from $158 to $355 while crossbred wethers sold to $392/head to top the sale.
