Commentary

The supply of stock at Casino increased by 675 head to 1,535. The yarding included extra numbers of vealer lines suited to the backgrounder and light weight and heavy cows with only a handful of heavy processor steers and heifers. All classes of cattle sold to dearer trends with the vealer lines up to 19c/kg dearer and cows up from 4c to 12c/kg better.

Light weight vealer steers to restockers made 490c to average 400c/kg. Vealer steers over 200kg to background made 476c to average 417c/kg. Vealer heifers to restockers sold 408c and averaged 337c/kg. Yearling steers in the 200-280kg range to restockers made 435c to average 377c/kg. Heavy yearling steers to feed sold to 366c/kg. Yearling heifers in the 280-330kg range to restockers made 362c to average 324c/kg.

Grown steers to feed made 368c to average 319c with those over 600kg to processors at 320c to average 309c/kg. Grown heifers to processors made 316c to average 305c/kg. Light weight plain conditioned cows to restockers sold from 200c to 258c with those to processors at 260c to average 240c/kg. Heavy score 3 cows to processors made 278c to average 269c with the best heavy cows averaging 277c and selling to 286c/kg. Heavy bulls to processors made 292c to average 277c with several finding new homes at 309c/kg.
