Commentary

Numbers fell away this week as agents yarded 897 head of liveweight and open auction cattle. These sold to most of the usual field of trade and processor buyers along with feeder and restocker support. Quality was mixed over the pens in a dearer market.
Yearling steers were in short supply as they sold from 291c to 340c with similar heifers selling from 255c to 296c with a lift in price of up to 20c/kg. Feeders sought steers from 275c to 315c and heifers from 235c to 317c as restockers operated over both sexes from 186c to 306c /kg.
Grown steers and bullocks lifted up to 15c as they ranged from 282c to 313c to the trade buyers with feeders active from 266c to 318c/kg. Grown heifers received the largest rise of up to 40c as they returned from 242c to 280c to the trade with feeder support from 256c to 300c with manufacturing steers ranging from 202c to 224c/kg.
Heavy cows made up the bulk of the offering as they jumped 18c to sell from 236c to 272c with lighter lots making from 140c to 220c as bulls ranged from 190c to 213c/kg.
