Commentary
Numbers were up for a total yarding of 1756 head at Mt Barker. The yarding was dominated by yearling cattle making up half the total yarding. The yearling steers sold to 468c and heifers to 418c/kg. A good supply of heavy cows eased selling to 336c and heavy bulls followed suit topping at 302c with reduced processor demand.
Small numbers of weaners sold for 468c to 476c for heavy steers and from 442c to 496c for the lighter weights. Weaner heifers returned 310c to 400c for heavy weights and 382c to 384c for lighter weights.
Yearling cattle sold from 380c to 468c for steers while yearling heifers returned 340c to 418c/kg.
Grown steers weighing over 500kg made 434c to 440c while grown heifers weighing under 540kg sold from 304c to 402c and heavier weights returned 326c to 392c/kg.
Heavy cows sold from 276c to 336c, medium weights returned 280c to 300c and store cows made from 200c to 296c/kg. Heavy bulls sold from 258c to 302c/kg.
