Total Yarding: 476

Commentary

Numbers down by 60% as agents yarded 476 mixed quality cattle, a noted factor of the decline being with the combination of the prime sale on Tuesday and the weaner sale on Thursday last week where some 4000 head were traded to new homes. Not all of the regular processors attended at the rail, although there were a few more opportunistic re-stockers in the market especially after some moderate rainfall totals in the local district over the weekend.

Market trend varied throughout most of the young weaner types showed cheaper trends despite some offerings of exceptional drafts of B muscle Charolais calves. Light re-stocker steer weaners back by 10c to 19c/kg 220c to 358c/kg, over 330kg 282c to 300c/kg. Re-stocker heifer weaners similar falls 204c to 282c/kg with B muscle types making up to 305c/kg.

Medium weight yearling steers to both re-stock and feed showed mixed results 242c to 332c/kg. Light yearling heifers were 9c/kg dearer to the lot feeders 248c to 280c/kg whilst processing orders paid up to 300c/kg for over 400kg. The few heavy grown steers and heifers on offer to exporting orders saw little change 220c to 266c/kg.

Light 2 score cows despite re-stocker orders in place were cheaper by 21c to 29c/kg selling from 116c to 190c/kg. Heavy weight 2 score cows firm to slightly easier 150c to 206c/kg whilst the prime heavy weight cows traded 2c to 7c/kg easier making from 190c to 221c/kg. Best heavy Bull topped at 220c/kg.
