Previous Close Cattle Markets Summary

Cattle markets showed firm trends in a limited offering, with strong buyer demand supporting quality stock despite very low yardings and reduced overall supply.

The trends appear to be:

  • Supply very tight, with significantly reduced yardings
  • Strong demand for quality cattle, particularly Angus and proven lines
  • Restocker and southern buyer activity supporting prices
  • Cows with calves attracting solid competition
  • Market highly quality-driven in a small sample size

 

East Coast (QLD, NSW)

  • Firm market overall, with strong demand for limited numbers of quality cattle

  • NSW (Dubbo store sale) saw:

    • Very small yarding (320 head, down 800)
    • Good overall quality offering
    • Strong demand from southern buyers
    • Angus weaners achieving solid prices
    • Cows with calves also selling well in line with market rates
  • QLD (Emerald) had no reported data to indicate trends

    Summary: A firm market driven by strong demand for limited, good-quality cattle, with restocker and southern buyer competition supporting prices.
