Commentary

There were approximately 4,650 head penned representing an increase of 3010 head week-on-week. Quality improved with more than 800 Angus steers over 400kg and a good selection in all weights and grades. There were several feeder orders operating mostly on cattle 380kg and up and most lots in this range improved up to $50/head. Orders from the North were operating again seeking calves predominately 200-300kg and most of these light weights sold firm with the odd cheaper sale in places. Most local agencies were represented however demand from locals declined again as the closing of the Autumn window edges closer.

The top of the weaner steers made $1,650/head for 17 Angus weighed at 396kg or 417c/kg. Steers in this category averaged $1,520/head at 368kg or 413c/kg. The top of the yearling steers made $2,500/head for 12 Angus weighed at 598kg or 418c/kg. Steers in this category averaged $2,003/head at 484kg or 414c/kg.

The top of the weaner heifers made $1,480/head for 13 Angus weighed at 401kg or 369c/kg. Heifers in this category averaged $1,260/head at 355kg or 355c/kg. The top of the yearling heifers made $1,740/head for 13 Angus weighed at 478kg or 364c/kg. Heifers in this category averaged $1,618/head at 437kg or 370c/kg.
