Previous Close Sheep Markets Summary

Sheep and lamb markets were mixed across Australia, with strong competition supporting quality trade and heavy lambs in some centres, while softer processor demand weighed on prices elsewhere, particularly in mutton markets.

The trends appear to be:

  • Trade and heavy lambs remained well supported where buyer competition was strong
  • Lamb prices were mixed, with markets recording both gains and declines
  • Mutton markets were generally softer, although select centres recorded firmer results
  • Buyer demand remained selective, favouring quality lines
  • Wool market reports were also released across several centres

New South Wales

  • Corowa (4,450 lambs, 2,520 sheep) – Strong buyer competition lifted lamb prices by around $10/head, while reduced mutton demand saw sheep prices ease. An additional market report was available from Elders.
  • Tamworth (1,300 lambs, 770 sheep) – Reduced numbers met steady buyer demand, with trade and heavy lamb prices holding firm. An additional market report was available from RLX.
  • Dubbo (9,950 lambs, 2,640 sheep) – Steady lamb numbers met softer demand, with lamb prices easing across most categories and mutton declining $10–$20/head.
  • Griffith – Market reports were available from S&B and Elders.
Weekly Wool Report – Elders released its weekly wool market report.

Summary: NSW delivered mixed results, with stronger competition supporting lamb prices at Corowa and Tamworth, while softer processor demand weighed on the Dubbo market. Mutton prices were generally weaker across the state.
