Previous Close Cattle Markets Summary
Cattle markets continued to strengthen across most centres, with strong restocker and feeder demand driving widespread gains despite mixed yardings.
The trends appear to be:
- Stronger buyer demand lifted prices across most Queensland, NSW, Victorian and South Australian markets.
- Feeder and restocker cattle were the strongest performers, particularly quality yearlings and weaners.
- Cows and heavy cattle generally strengthened, although some categories were mixed.

Queensland
- Roma yarded 7,105 head, with stronger competition across most categories and feeder cattle recording the biggest gains, while yearling steers topped 606c/kg.
- Warwick yarded 981 head, with prime cattle stronger and feeder/restocker yearlings lifting 20–36c/kg.
- Murgon had a smaller yarding of around 660 head, with prices mostly firm to slightly stronger and heavy feeders topping $4.90/kg.Â
Summary: Queensland markets were generally stronger, led by strong feeder and restocker demand for quality cattle.
New South Wales
- Carcoar yarded 1,133 head, with feeder steers 15–20c, trade cattle 20c and cows 12–15c/kg dearer.
- Inverell yarded 1,017 head, with generally dearer trends driven by strong demand for well-bred weaners, feeders and heavy cows.
- Scone yarded 867 head, with yearling steers, heifers and heavy cows all strengthening.
 Summary: NSW markets remained firm to dearer, with strong restocker and feeder competition supporting most categories.
Victoria
- Wodonga yarded 940 head, with vealers, trade cattle, heavy steers, bullocks and cows all selling dearer.
- Koonwarra yarded 1,287 head, with finished grown cattle and heavy bulls stronger and quality young cattle also selling well.
- Shepparton yarded 1,000 head, with beef cows strengthening and tight supplies supporting finished cattle.
Summary: Victorian markets were generally stronger, supported by good-quality cattle and solid demand for finished and heavy classes.
South Australia
- Naracoorte yarded 633 head, with young cattle up to 25c, grown heifers up 20c and heavy cows 10–20c/kg stronger.
Summary: Naracoorte recorded a broadly dearer market on improved quality and strong competition.
Tasmania
- Powranna yarded just 32 head, with limited numbers across trade and export categories and cows making 368–402c/kg.
Summary: Very small supply limited market activity at Powranna.
Western Australia
