Previous Close Cattle Markets Summary

Cattle markets were generally firm to stronger, with strong feeder and restocker demand supporting young cattle across Queensland, NSW and South Australia, while mixed quality kept results uneven in some categories.

The trends appear to be:

Queensland

New South Wales

  • Shepparton yarded 1,015 cattle, with most grades holding firm despite mixed-quality young cattle and softer dairy cows.
  • Wodonga yarded 950 cattle, with strong buyer demand keeping trade cattle firm and lifting Angus heifers and bullocks.

Summary: Victorian markets were generally firm, with strong demand supporting quality cattle despite selective buying and variable quality.

South Australia

  • Naracoorte yarded 649 cattle, with strong feeder and domestic demand driving a firm-to-dearer market, including trade calves to 556c/kg and heavy cows to 428c/kg.

Tasmania
