Previous Close Cattle Markets Summary

East Coast (QLD, NSW, VIC)
Overall firm to dearer market, driven by strong competition for feeder and restocker cattle.
QLD results were mixed to stronger:
- Warwick (944 head) saw stronger prices for quality feeder and restocker yearlings, while cows eased
- Roma Store (8,450 head) recorded stronger yearling prices on solid feeder and restocker competition, while cows eased and heavy bulls improved
- Clermont (822 head) reported a firm market, supported by strong processor and restocker activity
- Moreton (711 head) saw firm to dearer trends across most categories, particularly trade and feeder heifers
- Mareeba (671 head) maintained firm prices across prime cattle categories
NSW markets were mostly stronger:
- Gunnedah (1,900 head) recorded dearer feeder and restocker cattle, while cows and export cattle eased
- Scone (481 head) saw strong gains in weaners and cows
- Inverell (862 head) posted gains across most young cattle and grown stock categories, though heavy cows eased
- Carcoar (2,748 head) continued its strong run, with feeder and restocker cattle lifting further while cows held firm
VIC continued to perform strongly:
- Wodonga (1,450 head) saw trade, feeder and export cattle sell dearer, while lighter cows eased
- Koonwarra (2,243 head) recorded gains in trade and crossbred cattle, supported by strong feedlot demand
- Shepparton (1,900 head) saw young cattle prices lift, although cow values eased slightly from recent highs
Summary: Feeder and restocker cattle remained the standout performers across the east coast, with strong competition continuing to lift young cattle prices. Cow markets were more variable, but overall market sentiment remained positive.
South Australia
Generally firm to dearer market.
- Naracoorte (1,091 head) recorded gains of 10–20c/kg for young and grown cattle, while cows held firm
- Dublin (740 head) saw firmer steer prices, with mixed results for heifers and trade cattle
Summary: Strong competition supported young cattle and steers, while most other categories remained steady to firm.
Tasmania
Mixed market.
- Powranna (104 head) saw heavy cows improve strongly, while most yearling categories eased slightly
Summary: Cow prices strengthened, offsetting softer yearling trends.
Western Australia
Boyanup (408 head) saw:
- Strong demand across all classes
- Significant price improvements compared with the previous sale
