Previous Close Cattle Markets Summary
Cattle markets were mixed across Australia, with strong competition supporting quality weaners, feeder cattle and well-bred young stock, while export cattle and cow markets generally eased in line with softer processor demand.
The trends appear to be:
- Quality weaners and feeder cattle remained the strongest-performing categories
- Export cattle and cows generally eased across many centres
- Buyer demand continued to favour well-bred and better-finished cattle
- Processor competition remained selective in several markets
- Mixed-quality yardings contributed to varied results across regions
Queensland
- Dalby (4,877 head) – Reduced yarding saw strong demand for feeder yearlings, while export cattle, bullocks and cows eased 2–5c/kg. Additional market reports were available from ER and Elders.
- Charters Towers (1,157 head) – Smaller yarding and mixed-quality prime cattle met steady processor demand, with most prices easing, particularly bullocks and cows. An additional market report was available from QR.

Summary: Queensland markets were generally softer for export cattle and cows, although strong competition continued to support quality feeder cattle and outstanding weaner lines.
