Commentary
There was a much smaller yarding of 1,686 lambs (842 less) at Powranna on Tuesday with a few more pens of trade lambs but still a big percentage of store lambs included. The prime market recovered some of last week’s losses while most light lambs were similar.
Restockers paid $94 to $186 for light lambs and $178 to $202 for light trade. Processors paid $242 to $260 for trade pens and $276 to $314 for heavy lambs.
There was a larger number of 2,012 mutton (311 more) with a big selection. Extra heavy sheep were cheaper while medium and light sheep held last week’s rates. Extra heavy ewes made $232 to $288, heavy $190 to $252, medium $108 to $288, light $80 to $148 and very light $68 to $100/head.
